20+ Online Shopping Sites in Kenya

5 mins read

I hate shopping. In particular, I dislike spending hours searching for a single item, and I feel that I am not a particularly good haggler. Thus, I became one of the biggest devotees to online shopping. In this post, I decided to list some of my favorite online shopping sites in Kenya to turn you hopefully into one too.

Online shopping has grown rapidly over the past five years. You can now buy almost anything online; electronics, clothes, art, ebooks, phones, household appliances, furniture, etc.

In Nairobi, most of these shops can make fast deliveries, and I often receive most of my orders within a day or two.

Jumia is still, without a doubt the largest online shop in Kenya. The site has one of the biggest selections of mobile phones, tablets, computers & laptops, women’s fashion, men’s fashion and more.

An excellent alternative to Jumia. They have a wider range of items, and cheaper alternatives from China.

A fashion retail shop.

Formerly Kaymu, Jumia market can be best described as an online marketplace. Any seller can join and sell their products on the site. This makes it one of the best sites to find anything even the rare and hard to find items. I was able to find kitenge and kanga suits on the site.

This is an e-commerce website based on an internet auction and online marketplace model allowing individuals and businesses to trade with each other.

You can use Cheki to find new and used cars for sale.

I use Chinabuy to purchase electronics, fashion, home and garden appliances from China. Contrary to popular belief, you can find very high quality products from China at very decent prices.

Sometimes, I prefer to shop from online USA an UK and it is much easier than I initially expected.

Vitu mob will deliver products purchased from all leading US and UK sites such as Amazon and Ebay which usually don’t deliver to Kenya.

The website is similar to Vitu Mob and it offers direct e–retail solution enabling retail purchases directly from any United Kingdom retailer. Shop from ANY U.K retailers from Kenya with UKDUKAS. over 1.5 BILLION items to choose from (Amazon, e-Bay, Newlook, H&M, Next, Argos, Zara, M&S, ASOS, ALDO, BHS, Topshop Debenhams Boohoo. Pay in KSH with MPESA receive your items on 10-14 working days FREE collection in Nairobi.

Besides providing a very reliable UK and US shipping service, the site also provides a free UK address for customers to receive their goods from online UK and US shops. This is for customers in Kenya who shop online with UK shops like eBay  amazon Argos ASDA TESCO and need their purchases to be delivered to Kenya.

Mamamikes sells Clean Energy Products – Buy or send solar lamps, clean cook stoves or home solar lighting systems online.

Exclusively for mobile phones.

Very similar to Jumia.

Online shopping mall in Kenya, High Quality products online shop at low affordable prices.

This is the best online shop for a wide selection of books by African authors.

Buy ebooks online in Kenya.

Foodplus is run by Chandarana supermarket. Through the service, you can buy fresh food, food cupboard (food for storage), snacks, meat products, wines and spirits, health and beauty products and toiletries.

Jumia Food presents an online platform where people can easily order food online and have it delivered to them in no time. I have used the service once in the past year, and the service was very decent.

Find properties for rent and sale across Kenya

Another real estate listing site.

Shop for paintings, clocks and other home decor items.

A word of caution. Be careful when making purchases from  new and unknown online shopping sites. Always use Mpesa/Cash on delivery to make your payments.

  2. “Pretty much all screen capture plugins can take screenshots of a whole page. I am using Nimbus but they can pretty much all do it. With Nimbus, you can select between capturing the whole page, only the visible part or a selected area … then you can edit it if you need (crop it, blur some parts, add arrows to point something, add texts, circle things, etc…). I really recommend it instead of the one you talked about in the article.

  5. I see many people in the comments are bargaining for “Jazacart”. I dont know much about it but I am going to divulge to another important point!

One, Kenya would be a great place to shop online, but we do not have a definite system of delivering goods. For instance, how do you buy goods from Jumia and deliver in Turkana? Kenya’s mapping and addresses need to be “addressed”!

Two, Kenya’s shipping methodologies are our let down. I guess, Uber and Taxify should already be thinking about how to beat the expensive nature of G4S or Cargo Fargo and start making deliveries.

  8. Great article; I love shopping online, had a bad experience with Jumia though; masoko worked perfect for me and then sansoko.com. Online buying gives more freedom and when they compete means the customers will be served better.

  9. Great post. Ecommerce in Kenya is slowly but steadily growing and is set to change the retail industry soon. SmartCart Kenya is one of the ecommerce sites looking to be part of this change. It offers customers a wide variety of electronic products at great prices. We are here to make shopping easier and more fun.

  10. Thanks, now I know where to go for more online shopping!
Shopping online is astounding to those who aren’t big fans of shopping in brick-and-mortar stores. I myself am nuts about online shopping. I don’t know what I would do without the internet because I do all of my shopping from clothing (asos.com), to tissues (https://freshca.in), to exercise equipment, to even supplements. It’s like having the world’s largest menu for you to choose from.
